Creative wave has been developed over many years. It employs therapeutic approaches, gleaned from experimentation, study and experience of different learning environments that engage and involve a range of people. Working with a practicing artist, helps to make learning more authentic and meaningful.

 

This playful approach to sculpture seeks to introduce practical skills as well as prompting direct experience of the process of carving itself, from imagination to artefact. Working in this way uses metaphor and develops concrete skills whilst encouraging reflection and understanding of the creative process, including design through making.

This process builds self esteem, creates empowerment, trust and above all, faith in the creative process itself as participants construct an object through free association and intuition.  Giving participants materials to design through making is an essential part of the process as they practice using tools become skilled and transform both the stone and themselves.

Creativity has the power to transform our everyday lives. It can help organisations to build more effective and problem solving teams, it can help young people tackle emotional and personal problems and can help individuals find new ways to express themselves. It can also just be fun.

 

How the workshops are delivered - All workshops covers 3 stages:

• Introduction; experimenting with the tools and materials

• Creating a finished piece through shaping, making holes and applying marks

• Reflection: discussion and sharing insights

​

The length and depth of the course will vary based on the needs of the client groups. For young clients the course will focus more on the practical experience, for adults there will be more reflection on the creative process and application.

​

Workshops can be delivered as a short 1/2 day session (3 hours) or a full day session (6 hours). They can be run as a course of multiple workshops over several weeks to provide a more in-depth experience and development.

Where the workshops are delivered - Workshops are delivered at the Stonewing gallery and studios but can be delivered on your premises if preferred.
